Materials Planner

We are looking for a Material PlannerAs a Material Planner, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.  You will contribute to the timely production of the hardware that controls the quantum computers.  In this position, you will play a key role in ensuring that materials are sourced and available for the assemblies required for the control system.  You will also be involved in production planning and other activities related to the procurement and processing of parts into inventory, and into subsequent production activities. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for strategic and tactical planning and providing status of material availability of assigned products
  • Work with Procurement and Inventory Management to ensure timely ordering of parts and materials to meet planned production schedules
  • Create and release work orders to production based upon the production schedule, and follows them through to completion and close out
  • Monitor supply plans to identify changes and to determine their impact on material requirements schedules
  • Participate in the creation and rollout of a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meeting framework
  • Leverage new product introduction plans from research and development into material requirement schedules
  • Actively participate in the transition to production process for new products and engineering changes
  • Communicate with contract manufacturers on assembly status and assist in filling part shortages as required
  • Analyze and report on the schedule and financial impacts of back orders, short stock, excess items to the parties concerned
  • Participate in problem solving activities and drive inventory optimization efforts
  • Actively participate in and support the implementation and rollout of the NetSuite ERP software

You’d be a good fit with:

  • Associates Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar field, with 3-5 years of relevant supply chain planning or production control experience in a manufacturing environment (i.e., Receiving, Shipping, Inventory adjustments, BOM structures, Production scheduling)
  • Proficiency in NetSuite or another major ERP system in conducting planning and/or production control efforts
  • Strong communication skills, Google Suite, organizational, and presentation skills are required

You’d be a great fit with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management with 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • APICS CPIM or CSCM certification
  • Experience with electrical manufacturing and systems integration
  • Experience with Master Scheduling/Demand Planning

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle, and Boston metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don’t let this stop you from applying.
