As the first quarter of 2022 comes to a close, IonQ is welcoming two key hires to our already-stellar leadership team. Laurie Babinski will be joining as General Counsel, and Anant Sanchetee will be leading our marketing efforts as Senior Director of Marketing.
Laurie Babinski comes to IonQ from Credit Karma, where she has spent the last seven years in a variety of roles, most recently as Deputy General Counsel. Among her many successes there, Babinski helped to navigate DOJ approval of Credit Karma’s acquisition by Intuit, Inc., and also led their cross-functional cybersecurity incident response team.
Prior to her time with Credit Karma, her legal work focused on media, technology, and intellectual property as an attorney atof Baker Hostetler, LLP. Early in her career, she focused especially on work to protect the legal rights of journalists and the confidentiality of their sources. Her wide-ranging experience and exemplary dedication to integrity make her a welcome addition to IonQ’s senior leadership as both a trusted legal advisor and thoughtful, intentional strategist.
“IonQ and its technology are poised to push quantum computing into the mainstream, with applications from financial services to healthcare and beyond,” Babinski says. “Its leadership and its teams know what quantum computing can achieve and are dedicated to supporting each other to make that possible. There is no more thrilling time to be joining the company.”
Anant Sanchetee arrives at IonQ from Meta, where he was Head of Brand and Product Marketing for Meta AI. At Meta he built an integrated marketing team that launched various AI technologies, Oculus for Business offerings to enable VR for work, launched the first 360 degree, six degree-of-freedom camera in partnership with RED Digital, and helped shape, communicate, and market Meta’s industry-leading machine learning initiatives.
Before Meta, Sanchetee spent his career building marketing teams that helped make innovative deep-tech brands accessible to the world, including sleep-focused neurotechnology company Dreem, and Lytro (acquired by Google), a groundbreaking developer of light-field camera technology for consumer and commercial VFX applications. Anant has also worked at leading brand and advertising agencies managing strategic brand engagements.
“The story of quantum will be in sharing narratives that leapfrog various industries and user needs. From a marketing standpoint, this is an opportunity of a lifetime. I look forward to partnering with my peers and industry leaders across the quantum computing space in this breathtaking endeavor”
These two key hires anchor IonQ’s continued attraction and retention of world-class talent. Since the start of the 4th quarter of 2021, we have added a total of 30 new employees across all levels and roles in the organization, from advanced R&D to people operation. We believe that our ambitious mission, the opportunity to work with the brightest minds and most advanced quantum technology in the world, will continue to attract top talent to our organization and cement College Park, Maryland as a nexus for quantum technology.
