Senior HPC Infrastructure Engineer - Quantum Computing
IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are pushing past the limits of classical physics and current supercomputing technology to unlock a new era of computing. Quantum computing has the potential to impact every area of human society for the better. IonQ’s computers will soon redefine industries like medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and more. IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.
Building quantum computers requires lots of classical computers — we use massively parallel simulations running on high-performance computing clusters to help us inform our system design. As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer for HPC, you’ll help build and maintain this critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Build out and maintain our on-premises and cloud-based HPC infrastructure
- Create and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines
- Help improve the performance and cost of HPC code
You’d be a good fit with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or equivalent practical experience -- untraditional backgrounds are welcome and encouraged!
- 5+ years experience in technical infrastructure
- 2+ years experience in Slurm or other cluster managers
- Familiarity with MPI or other multiprocessing schemes
- Experience with Linux
You’d be a great fit with:
- 5+ years in High Performance Compute cluster management
- Expert-level knowledge of Fortran and/or C
- Expert analysis skills in areas like statistical testing, modeling and general optimization; ML a plus
- Knowledge of one or more domains of computational physics (PDEs, n-body, large-dimension integration, stochastic systems, ...)
- Exposure to quantum physics and/or quantum information science
